Saltwater Finish Last year we introduced a new finish for saltwater use, and the growing number of dealers selling our nets in coastal areas tell us they like the way it stands up to use. That finish is a little shinier than our standard finish. If you're after spooky fish and the shine bothers you, take a little 00 or 000 steel wool to the bow to take the shine down. That's an old trick we learned years ago from selling Kevlar canoes in a camouflage pattern to fishermen and waterfowlers. They would spend a couple grand on a new boat, then spend an hour or so going over the new gelcoat finish with steel wool to dull it down. It's a good idea, and it still works.
French Clips Now An Option Last year we promised our dealers to hold our prices as long as possible. We haven't had a price increase in five years, but because of rising costs we expected to implement an across-the-board increase in early 2007. Instead, we talked to dealers and came up with an alternative. We used to include a high-quality French clip at no additional charge on every net if the dealer wanted it. Now, the French clip will be an additional charge. This way, if the user is opting for an upgraded clip they aren't paying for something they won't use. We haven't changed our MSRPs, and we're going to keep trying to hold those prices as long as possible.
ASAP Orders We want to thank all the dealers who place preseason projections, which helps us plan our production to make sure we have what you need when you need it. We also work hard to meet ASAP needs in a better-than-timely fashion. We try to have ASAPs out the door and on the way to the dealer within a couple of days. Year round.
